ALBANIANS RESENTMENT OVER DISCRIMINATORY STATEMENTS BY THE GOVERNMENT
A NEW SCAPEGOAT
In November, the Albanian community protested against the discriminatory remarks done by the British home secretary Suella Braverman, that labelled the Albanian migration to the UK as an "Illegal Invasion".
British media and other members of the parliament have lately highlighted the Albanian issue and the continuous negative discussion about the citizen of the Balkan's country made most of them feel offended and targeted.
Erjon Krasniqi, 32 a Kosovar Albanian that moved to London with his family during the Kosovo war, was very upset after the discriminatory statements and negative media coverage: "They are using us as scapegoats for their failed system". " We are very hard working people, we come here to work, they are saying that we are all criminals and this is not fair."
Mimoza Lika, 27 is an Albanian mother from North London, she was also very upset because of the situation and said :" what's happening in the media is not good, I am scared because our kids are also being targeted even thought they're born here, I am very worried about them".
The Albanian community is one of the most widespread in London, because of this many boroughs are now hosting entire Albanian neighbourhoods like the ones that can be found in Barking, Wood Green and Green Lanes. Although Illegality remains an important issue (like in any minority group in the country) its clearly unfair to target an entire community because of its heritage.
