Impacts of the train strike
The two sides of the coin
The train strike and continuous service disruptions that have affected the city on the 10TH of November, left Londoners conflicted.
The 24 hours strike that went on yesterday, affected mainly the most important tube services including The Piccadilly, Northern and Victoria Line, causing problems and issues to the citizens of the smoke.
Roberto Rossi,33-Year-old, Neapolitan chef heard about the strike in advance and acted beforehand “My rota is flexible, I took a day off yesterday since the strike was planned, I live far and it takes me 1 hour and Half everyday just to get to work, last time we had a strike it took me 4 hours”.
Not everyone had negative effects because of the strike, Umer Hassan, 27-year-old Uber driver from Pakistan said, “Strike Day is always a good day for us, Fares triple, with no trains people have to take cars, the only bad thing about it is traffic”.
The main reason behind the strike was the cost-of-living crisis, inflation is running at 10 percent and its set to rise, workers went on strike because of the pay and their working conditions, TFL workers are planning further strikes that could take place even as soon as the end of this month and are also balloting a 6 months of strikes that could last until July 2023.
